THE MIRROR

In the beginning was a mirror, illuminating back all it had created.
Over time, the reflection became sameness. Not the dull sameness of repetition,
but the unbearable weight of pure potential, of love so complete it longed to be given away.
The mirror trembled with the ache of sharing. Its stillness became vibration,
its vibration became a shattering, an endless scattering of shards.
Each shard carried the memory of the whole, but also the wonder of its own new angle.
Some caught light and laughed it back. Some hid in shadow, forgetting they were ever part of the mirror. The shards wandered, gifting fragments of reflection to one another,
searching without knowing for the face of the whole.
And in each meeting, in each flash of recognition, the mirror began to remember itself,
not as it was before the shattering, but as something even greater:
love shared,
returned,
and multiplied.
